Malaysia’s Education System

The secondary education will start at the age of thirteen and will last for five years. Students will be assessed after three years during their secondary education which is called PMT or lower certificate of education. This assessment will determine whether the student qualifies to enter the arts or science stream according to their results obtained in the assessment. When they are in the specified stream, their switching opportunities are limited. Following this, after two years they will be assessed to enter the high school.
